I was watching Arthur with Daughter today and the grandma knits. It made me realize how much I notice when people on tv knit and if they do it right or not. Marge on the Simpsons knits differently. Every time she's shown knitting the ends of the needles are pointed up and the pointy ends that the yarn is on is down. I tried doing it like that once and it's freakishly hard. Does anyone actually knit like that? Or perhaps that people drawing Marge just don't know any knitters.
I did some embroidery today. I haven't taken photos of it yet, but I bought that Stitchable Stationary by Jenny Hart (of Sublime Stitching fame). It was fun. I'll send it out as a thank you note soon.

Mr. Fancy Pants
The cabled tank top from Simply Baby by Debbie Bliss. And yes, those are plaid pants on my headless baby. He could have totally gone and played golf, but we went to a wedding instead. The same wedding that I made a 5 1/2 hour throw as a gift. Hopefully they'll like it. If not, they could send it back to me and I'd be happy. I'm so very tired, too tired to think of anything really witty to say, but I won't get any readers by writing nothing.

Happy Birthday USA
Happy 4th of July to everyone who celebrates. My neighbors included even though it's horribly late and I don't get a ton of sleep with an almost 3 month old in the house and you keep doing fireworks and riding your lawnmower around. I wonder if it's still drunk driving if it's a lawn mower.

You know that book?
I just couldn't do it. I had to stop reading it. The authors started going on about something awesome they did (and it was a really cool upholstery they came up with that could be composted when you're finished with it) and I had to stop. It's the arrogance of it all; like they're the only ones that could come up with this and make it a reality. And it just seems like they keep saying the same thing, that we need to come up with a different way of doing things. I think so too, but I can say it in one sentence as opposed to 184 pages.
On to something funnier. How to Meet and Woo a Nerdy Girl. Just a side note, I'm listening to NPR right now and do so on the way to the knitting store quite often.
