The socks to go with the shawl that Sarah knit (and crocheted because the shawl was crocheted which totally doesn't fit with the rhyme of the house that jack built). Knit for my mom because she has a love affair with hand knit socks. It's actually really nice that she loves them so much since it makes gift giving very easy for her. However, I have been spoiling her with really luscious sock yarn lately. I try them on and I suddenly understand why she likes hand knit socks so much.
The pattern is Family Socks by Hannah Fettig. I chose this pattern because it's a very simple pattern that would allow the color of the yarn to show through. I had started with a different pattern, but the pattern got lost with this yarn and I decided it wasn't worth it. Also, there are patterns for a variety of sizes, I would like to knit some socks for my kids, but I'm a little afraid to. Daughter is so picky about everything she wears that it must all have approval and even then it's not a guarantee it will be worn. Son just likes to take socks off and I'm not sure I want to put so much work into something that will get thrown behind a bed or couch. At least I have a very clearly written pattern if I ever want to though.

So nice. I just don't have the patience for socks with the small needles.
